THE ENGINE, ON CALL

An AI coach that knows your plan — and can actually act on it

Updated August 20, 2026

The Engine is Meal Engine’s built-in AI diet coach. Unlike a general chatbot, it can see your plan, your targets, your logged food and your progress — so its advice fits your actual day. You can chat or talk to it, ask it to log food, and approve the plan changes it proposes.

What a conversation with the Engine looks like

  1. Ask anything in plain words — “how am I tracking this week?”, “what should I eat tonight?”, “log my breakfast: 2 eggs with spinach and toast”.

  2. The Engine answers from your real data: your plan, your targets, what you’ve logged today and how your week is trending — not generic advice.

  3. When action is needed, it acts: logging the food, showing what’s left for the day, or suggesting a practical next meal that fits your remaining macros.

  4. Bigger changes — like adjusting your targets — are proposed first and only applied when you say yes. You stay in charge; the Engine does the thinking.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT about my diet?

A general chatbot can’t see your meal plan, your targets or what you ate today — so it can only give you generic answers. And even when the advice is good, it can’t do anything with it.

The Engine has the full picture and the controls: it reads your actual day, gives advice that fits it, and can log food or update your plan on the spot — with your approval for anything that changes your setup.

Can I actually talk to it, like a call?

Yes. Voice mode works like a natural conversation — ask what’s left for the day while you’re cooking, or log a meal hands-free. Typing works everywhere too; use whichever fits the moment.

What kind of questions is it good at?

The practical ones that come up every day: “does this meal fit my macros?”, “I’m eating out tonight — what should I pick?”, “why did my targets change?”, “I feel like I’m not progressing — what does my data say?”.

Because it can see your history, its answers reference your real numbers instead of platitudes.

Does it replace a dietitian or doctor?

No. The Engine is a coaching and planning tool, not a medical service. For medical conditions and clinical dietary needs, always follow your clinician’s advice — the Engine works within the preferences and restrictions you set.

Common questions

Is the coach available all the time?

Yes — the Engine is built into the app and available whenever you open a chat or start a voice session.

Can it change my calorie targets?

It can propose changes and explain the reasoning, but nothing is applied until you approve it.

Can it log food for me?

Yes — tell it what you ate in one sentence and it logs the foods with macros, then tells you what’s left for the day.

Is it included in both PLAN and TRACK?

Yes. Both modes include the same AI coach.
